The Colorado Freedom Memorial has been established as a 501(C)(3) non-profit foundation,
registered and in good standing with the Colorado Secretary of State and the Internal Revenue Service.
The Colorado Freedom Memorial Foundation is a member of the Aurora Chamber of Commerce.
The Colorado Freedom Memorial has been endorsed by the Colorado State Board of Veterans
and Military Affairs, The Colorado Department of the American Legion, The United Veterans Council,
numerous military organizations and most of Colorado's congressional delegation.
The City of Aurora has approved a home for the Colorado Freedom Memorial on
land near the beautifully remodeled Beck Recreation Center. The Memorial
will be built on nearly four acres of land set aside as part of the new Springhill Park adjacent
to the Rec Center. The proximity to the Center provides access to meeting space and banquet
rooms for events planned at the Colorado Freedom Memorial. At 800 Telluride St., the site is
just outside the 6th Avenue gate of Buckley Air Force Base.
The Colorado Freedom Memorial Foundation has partnered with Regis University and Rocky Mountain PBS
on educational programs. Operation Footlocker with Regis University brings military memorabilia
into classrooms to allow students a "hands-on" experience as they study WWII.
Timeline for Completion
Every effort is being made to complete the Colorado Freedom Memorial as soon as possible.
Current economics have slowed the rate of contributions, but many major aspects of the project
have been completed. The design of the Memorial is final, architectural engineering has been
completed and a site has been determined. Funds are in the process of being secured.
